LockDown Browser error won't let student take test

Modified on: Wed, Feb 21, 2024 at 1:57 PM

Agent: Dave Gellman

Ticket Reference: 242094

Issue: Student is unable to take a LockDown Browser exam because they are getting a "This program can only be launched by a link in another browser" error when opening up LDB and/or they are being prompted to repeatedly download LDB (See Fig. 1).

Cause: Student has an old version of LDB. Note: This can happen because a student may go out and search for LDB to download rather than getting it through our Canvas instance.

Solution: Student uninstalls the old version, reboots their computer then goes back to the exam in Canvas and follows the prompts to download and install LDB.
